Welcome to Beauty In Color
The education your skin has always deserved.
If you've landed here feeling overwhelmed by conflicting information, frustrated by products that haven't worked, or tired of skincare advice that was never made with you in mind, you're in the right place.
Beauty In Color is a skincare education platform for Black women, especially women in their 40s and beyond. We're here to help you understand your skin so you can build a routine that makes sense and actually supports it over time.
Read the full foundation here.
You have melanin-rich skin, sensitive skin, or both and most skincare advice has felt like it was written for someone else.
You want to understand why your skin does what it does, not just what to put on it.
You want to age intentionally, not desperately, with skincare guidance built for where you are.
Where to begin
You've seen the ten-step routines and the skinimalism pushback. You don't know what's actually necessary, what order things go in, or what's worth spending money on. Let's simplify it.
Something is off. Your skin is irritated, tight, flushed, or no longer tolerating products that used to work. Your barrier may be compromised, and adding more is probably not the answer.
You're not panicking about aging. You're being intentional about it. You want to know which ingredients matter after 40, how to use actives without overdoing it, and how to support your skin as it changes.
Hyperpigmentation behaves differently on melanin-rich skin, and most skincare advice skips that part. Let's talk about what actually helps, what the timeline looks like, and why sunscreen matters so much here.

THE BEAUTY INCOLOR APPROACH
Everything on Beauty In Color is built around one goal: giving you a clear, honest, research-backed understanding of your skin so you can make better decisions with confidence.
The skin barrier is the foundation of every skincare decision. All of the education here is built around protecting and supporting it first.
Deeper skin tones have specific needs that most mainstream skincare content ignores. This platform is built for Black women, not adapted after the fact.
Recommendations are grounded in dermatological research and ingredient science. You'll understand why something works, not just that it does.
Education comes first. Product recommendations are included when they earn a place, not to fill space.
ABOUT DANA
I'm a skincare educator, eczema advocate, and founder of Beauty In Color. I built this platform because I spent years trying to apply mainstream skincare advice to skin that didn't fit the mold it was written for. My goal is to translate the science into guidance that's practical, specific, and actually useful, for skin like ours.
Everything here is research-backed, thoughtfully explained, and built around the skin you're actually in.
